A Word from our President

September 2009

Hello All,

Quite the busy back-to-school season for Mensa Montreal! Over the summer, your executive committee held meetings that were overflowing with ideas and projects.

As you read these words, the all-new Mensa Montreal website (built on a new Web 2.0 platform) will have likely already launched, and you will have all the information you need to access it. Our magnificent new virtual home on the Net is the brainchild of Raymond Bishop, in collaboration with Jocelyne Bisaillon and other members of the executive committee. We look forward to your many visits and, in particular, enthusiastic use of the discussion forums.

In the following pages, you will find all the information you need for our next Regional Gathering (RG), which will take place on the 14th of November. It is the ideal activity for all you new members to get in touch with your new association and it is a very interesting social activity.

As per the last two years, we are maintaining the a-la-carte formula, as well as a $5 discount on the price of registration for the afternoon's activities for those who attend the morning’s general assembly. There is a strong likelihood that we will meet, greet, and take advantage of getting our pictures taken with our new salamanders, of which our past president Kathleen Doherty will speak on page 2.

Up ahead on the drafting table are the preparations for Mensa Canada’s AGA, which will likely be held in Montreal in the summer of 2011. A budget and preliminary project plan will be submitted to Mensa Canada’s administrative council (AC) in September, so as to make things official by their October meeting session. No doubt about it, we will need your help to organize an event of this magnitude. If you wish to collaborate on this project, please contact me.

Finally, we are planning a new member recruitment campaign, which will be put into action as soon as we launch our new website (an essential element for enhanced reputation and visibility)

Looking forward to seeing you at one of our many activities as well as at the 2009 RG.

Fernand Vallée, president
